Book a place on our free art workshop, which will be led by artists Anna Chrystal Stephens and Carla Wright. The children's workshop will be held at Latymer Projects (the old Latymer Family Centre) and is inspired by themes in the forthcoming exhibition Edges, which will be open from Thursday 7th - Tuesday 12th June.
Engaging with ideas around homes and shelters from different communities and different parts of the world, the workshop will encourage experimentation with a variety of materials to create “mini – dwellings”. Towards the end of the session, we will be working together as a group to arrange the structures into a “society”.
The workshop will also touch on ideas around the availability of resources and materials in different parts of the world, and how different types of communities organize their living conditions. There will also be some time in the session for everyone to contribute and formulate their own thoughts, experiences and ideas around home, community and their living environment.
For younger children a parent, older sibling or guardian would need to be present to help them with the activities. The session is aimed at primary school ages, and may be less engaging for teenagers.
We have 15 places on the workshop, so booking is essential.
